Know the Pavonians
Note: Due to limited knowledge, and the majority of their homeworld being "uncharted", this document mostly focuses on those of the Kingdom of Zyga, currently ruled by Queen Aroostook, and being protected and infrastructure-upgraded by the multinational Joint Pavonian Protection Force ("Pavfor") Both the main Zygans (which is what most people think of when they hear "Pavonian") and the Yivia Valley people are
included, and others may be, as well, in certain circumstances. Also note that the main language of Zyga is often called "Pavonian." This usage shall be used here as well.

Race Names: Pavonian (English), e'Kulana(Pavonian, rarely used)
Scientific Name: Homopluna Pavonis Pavonis
English Nicknames: Featherduster, NBC, Peacock (all derogatory)

Homeland: Found on Pavonia, orbiting Epsilon Orbus, in the Black Heaven. The Orbus ("Orb" or "Globe") constellation is located amidst a mixture of super-large asteroid belts and various nebulae and space storms (frequent static discharges occur in parts of the clouds). Epsilon Orbus is "drowned out" by the light of its much brighter neighbors, so it cannot be seen from a distance. The local conditions and the relative obscurity, meant that it is no where near any major starfreight shipping routes, and indeed, the Pavonians have been considered a myth because of this. The main stars of the constellation are known as the Quada-Sorellae ("Four Sisters") in Pavonian.

Average Male and Female heights: Generally between 4'10" and 6'5", with men usually, but not always, being in the upper end of the spectrum.
Basic Physical Characteristics: In many ways, they seem human. However, they also possess head-feathers, or korona, and tails, or kula. The head-feathers resemble those of a peacock. There are corresponding feather-holes in the otherwise human-looking skull. The tail is even more noticeable, and is covered with ocelli, or eyes, that can open and close, but are normally closed when the tail is closed (the kula, like a peacock's tail, can be fanned out, or closed) Generally the kula and korona colors will be the same. The color of the tail-eyes will not necessarily match the face-eyes. Feeling the tail (which is generally not liked) can lead to bulges behind each tail-eye. These contain small "mini-brains", sometimes called ocular clusters. The ocelli and clusters are connected by nerves to a "nexus", at the base of the tail, which is connected to
the spinal cord.
Hair and skin color seem to come in a variety similar to those of humans. Feather color, however, seems to come in wide variety, and varies even among members of the same family. The color of the ocelli and the color of the head eyes does not always match.

Abilities/Weaknesses:

Multiple Eyes/Enhanced Vision: Besides the head eyes, like humans have, they can also see through the eyes on their kula. The eyes, unlike peacock eyes, even have eyelids. They're generally closed when the tail is closed. Additionally, they can see colors that humans can not, and can "see" in other ways, "instructing" specific eyes to sense heat, or use sonar instead.

Fluorescent Light: One weakness that the race possesses, however, is a weakness to conventional fluorescent light that runs at any frequency between 30 and 125 Hz. To make such light bearable to Pavonians, a suitable ballast must be installed to raise the frequency, and a filter fitted over each tube to block out the ultra-violet light. Regulations in many countries on Earth, as well as Oava'ia'i, now require all new fluorescent tubes to have these features ("Pavonized")>

Magically Inclined: Pavonians are generally higher in terms of magic and esper potential, compared to humans. Many Pavonians also learn how to channel the energy, called "Sarandra" in Pavonian, through their ocelli. It should be noted that, as with many other intelligent species, the females tend to be more naturally gifted in this aspect than the males.

Light through the Ocelli: Even those who do not know the channeling of Sarandra can naturally make their ocelli, or strictly speaking, a "flash ring" around each of the ocelli, glow in a variety of colors.

Limited Telepathy Through Korona: Eyewitnesses have claimed to see the korona of a Pavonian glow. Whether or not this normally happens, it does seem that Pavonians who are close to each other via love or family relationship, have an ability to "sense" each other, and this sense is reduced in an experiment where a volunteer wore a "Faraday Cap" over his korona. Also, the two current Enagi, Katherine and Genifa, are rumored to have been able to send more coherent messages this way. Also, the Pirates/Glocks have been known to use a device that "spoofs" the "signature" of a Pavonian, for purposes of a trap (usually said device is attached to a bomb, that will arm itself once a "response" is within an accepted range.

Society:

Note that there may be many different cultural groups among the Pavonians, once again, the Kingdom of Zyga is the main focus.

The Kingdom of Zyga has varying weather, climates, and micro-climates. The general design of traditional Zygan houses, though, seems unchanged, except for areas with heavy development by or for e'Xenia, and the Yivian Valleys.

The family ("famiglia") is of great importance in Zygan culture. Each family traditionally has a symbol that has three forms. One very simple "dots" form that can be flashed out with kula eyes. One simple but slightly more complex "line-art" method, often used as decorations on roofs. And a fully detailed style. The
main Zygans are sometimes called "Trullo-Dwellers" by others, because of their distinct houses, or trulli. They have roofs with conical domes, usually one dome atop each room. The Yivians have different design, generally more spherical dome.

The traditional age for going to school is between five and sixteen, although those taking specialized education would be "in school" for longer.

There seems to be much variation among the Dakoita (bands of roving bandits, from the Pavonian word for bandit, sometimes called "land-pirates", and given the code word "Dakota" by PAVFOR, to the chagrin of the few actual Dakota among their ranks)

Division of Labor: Agricultural work is often done by both genders. The exception is the Yivians, who mostly have the females farm. With them, hunting is the province of men. Those who have mastery over sarandra skills, regardless of gender, are welcome to hunt in mainstream Zygan society. Among the various nomadic groups, it seems to very from group to group, and even from clan to clan.

Hierarchy and Government: Again, this varies, and has recently undergone many different changes. The Kingdom of Zyga is traditionally ruled by a monarch, usually through male-preference primogeniture. However, by tradition the couple is said to rule, not just the monarch. Queen Aroostook became sole ruler due to the death of her husband, King Bangoor III. The current ruling dynasty, the House of Kameo, is believed to stretch back roughly 250 years.

However, for the past several decades, another entity, the Glissa-Deios, the most powerful religious group, managed to usurp some power, and became parallel to Kameo in terms of power. All of their higher level priests, and their Quorum of Three (the three judges who were believed to be "beneath Deios alone") even obtained immunity to taxation and prosecution. They also had the power to go after anyone they felt had "wronged" Deios without the Kingdom either aiding them or
stopping them. This organization, however, forged an alliance with the Pirates
sub-group of the Golden Glocks, a move that led to their disintegration, their
leadership being tried and convicted, and their temples and monasteries being
repossessed.

The other power currently in Zyga, at the request of the Queen, is PAVFOR (Short for "Pavonian Forces", or backronymed to mean "Pavonian Authorised Vision For Order and Reconstruction".) It is formed from military composed of NATO, EHAO and UN forces from Earth, and forces from a few countries on other planets, such as Naomi (YaYaNiaferia) and Ai'a'iveland (Oava'ia'i). Among their ranks they also have numerous engineers, medical professionals, police forces, and diplomats. Under their wing, various civilian contractors, and independent companies, mostly from Earth, have set up
shop in the Kingdom of Zyga. Zyga is divided into military regions under the main responsibility of different countries. During the Decimation, the forces from Earth were cut off from the main planet, but Queen Aroostook assumed emergency control of PAVFOR in the mean time, thus it was left to Princess Sala when she left with the Enega Warriors and a part of the PAVFOR force to help on Earth. Parts of the PAVFOR's mandate include introduction of technology, "opening up" Zyga to the rest of the universe, infrastructure, improvement of standards of living, training of local police and military, and ensuring that the Golden Glocks, and other organizations, are kept out of Zyga. Small groups of PAVFOR members have made attempts to discover the areas around Zyga. There are also a few outposts, mostly established by PAVFOR, intended
primarily for research.

The Yivia Valleys are a special case. The natives there are ruled by a paramount chief, called a Miyamm. The position is mostly hereditary. There are also "sub-Miyamm" who rule vekti, or clusters of villages. The Yivians long held a special relationship with the ruling family of Zyga, and consider themselves as part of Zyga, but under a different system. Even the Glissa-Deios respected this arrangement, and generally didn't establish a presence in the Valley, nor try to convert the natives. PAVFOR also respects their distinctness, and has minimized their
presence there.

The different dakoita and nomad groups have varied arrangements. Usually there is a chief who leads them, often called a kappo. In some groups there may be a small council, and at least one group was known for having a powerful woman as its leader. The Circle of Destiny was one such group, with the infamous Obo as its head sorceress, and leader of the keyena, or council of female witches.

Names and Identification: Names are varied, with
varied meaning. Unlike some other cultures, there seems to be no fixed
convention for how names should end, except names ending in "a" are
mostly found in female names. The oo sound is quite uncommon in parts of Zyga,
but among the royal family, is more common (especially King Bangoor and Queen
Aroostook.) Titles, whether related to royalty, religion, or specialized
knowledge or position, tend to come before the names. Some of the names bare
resemblance to names from Earth, but are otherwise unrelated, such as Genifa
and Katherine.

Among the Yivians, different names are used.
Also, a Yivian may also be known not just by there actual names, but by a
patronymic, prefixed with heeho ("son") or korka
("daughter"), and ending with the name of the father (in rare cases,
a matronymic may be used instead).

Among the Dakoita, traditions seem to vary. Some
groups are essentially Zygan in language and use Zygan naming conventions.
Also, from these groups, their names are known. Dakoita groups who don't have an
easily recognizable language are given nicknames, both by the Zygans, and more
recently, by PAVFOR, in most cases being names of barbarian and pirate groups
on Earth (e.g. Visigoths, Corsairs)

Traditional Clothing: Among the Zygans, male
traditional garb normally consists of a lele (or sarong), which may be
worn with a shirt ("semis") as the upper garment. Children may
were loose shorts instead, or a lele-korda, a variant of sarong with
drawstrings to stay on better. The term lele-korda, though. also has
connotations of being inept or retarded, much like "riding the short
bus" would in English. Girls and women might were a skirt with a blouse
(the skirt is either called a felda if it is a plain color, or an ouloolooloo
if it has some kind of pattern on it) Alternatively, a dress or saia might be
worn, or, less commonly now than in the past, a shorter saia with loose
pants underneath (kind of resembling the Southern Asian Salwar-Kamiz) Sari-like
wraps are also seen on some Zygan women, again, much less now than in the past.
There were also "flower dresses", dresses with a hem resembling the
petals of a flower, that, due to propaganda, fell out of favor, but are now
being seen once again. And at one time in the past, certain women would
sometimes wear just a loincloth and a cloak-like upper garment. Any clothing
that covers any part of the lower body must have an opening for the kula
to pass through when fully closed, usually this hole will have its own
drawstrings to do so. The hole must be large enough for the tail, but small
enough that nobody gets a "glimpse" of anything around it. In colder
areas, both genders may wear a fur or feather-lined cloak or over-robe.
Footwear, when worn, for both genders is normally a pair of slipper-like shoes.
Also of note among the Zygans, is the pesae, or balls (literally
"weights"), that are worn on swimwear. Originally they were heavier,
to prevent a "billowing" effect when entering the water, they are
much smaller and mostly ornamental, and come in a variety of colors and
decorative schemes. Women will wear swimming-dresses, of different material and
with pesa balls, but otherwise not that different from a dry-land saia,
and men will go in the lele, sometimes without pesae.

Among the Yivians, a loincloth, sarong or skirt is
the usual lower garment, with a colored sash sometimes complementing it.
Females also wear a breast-band. Footwear varies, with one interesting variant
being a sandal with small tambourine bells that makes a noise when the wearer
walks. For special occasions, elaborate masks, made of wood, animal hides and
leaves, will be worn as well.

Once again, among the nomads and Dakoita, there
is no single rule about choice of clothing. Materials and styles vary, as do
opinions on whether it is ok for women to be topless. Rather fearsome looking,
are the use of helmets made from animal skulls that warriors and chiefs of some
of these groups wear.

Hunting, Agriculture, Resources: An enormous variety
of animals even within the Kingdom of Zyga has resulted in a large variety of
animals for meat. Spears, arrows, and weapons resembling boomerangs and chakram
have been used (and in some cases, still are). Those Pavonians who have
mastered sarandra, though, will often use that as a way of hunting, some liking
the challenge of either facing a dangerous animal head-on (some creatures would
be capable of lifting a small vehicle and crushing it!), or firing at flying
creatures that pass at great speeds. Among the nomads and Dakoita, apart
from pillaging, hunting and gathering remain their main sources of food.

Agriculture has long been important, for both
the Zygans and the Yivians. Yivians perfected the art of terraced farming,
because of the hilly nature of their lands. In parts of Zyga-proper, crops are
often planted with walkways spaced out between the rows. This is for two
reasons. So that the crops could all be reachable without being trampled on,
and also, due to the way that fields were often ploughed, with a device that
resembles a barbell, except that in place of disk-shaped weights, are enormous
disk-shaped devices with numerous scoops and teeth, that are
"wheeled" by the person in the middle (pushing on the
"bar") Sometimes multiple people may be pushing and pulling such a
device, or animals may be used to haul it. The older bar-plows are turned at
either end of the field. Other versions exist where there are rows of lateral-moving
wheels, arranged in a disk pattern, so at each end, it can be moved sideways.
Sometimes the former technique is called "lazy ploughing" and the
latter, "pink foot ploughing", because of the color of the soil in
many places, at the end of doing this, farmers' feet are covered in pink. The
ends of fields, regardless of the method, are normally used for ornamental
plants and trees, as well as for the occasional statue, shrine, or other
religious decoration ("to ensure a good harvest.") It is also
traditional that if two fields of crops are touching each other, and they
belong to different people, then the area around the "border" is
considered open to both sides. Fences and walls were normally only used to
separate orchards and animal pastures from crop fields.

Animals are also used, both for food sources,
and for heavy labor. For millennia, animals have been domesticated, including
the lizard-like ligato, and the large dog-like awu.
Woodworking, mining, stone-cutting, and metal-working are well known in Zyga. Some of the latter stuff can be done, by those with the right training or knowledge, using sarandra instead of tools. Of interest is on Pavonia, a form of technetium, or "Pavonium", has been found that isn't radioactive. Jewelry and
weapons are made from it. Sometimes called Kameo silver, because of its visual
resemblance to silver, and certain jewelry worn by royalty is made of this.

Technology: The Pavonians have had an understanding
of electricity (Sarandra-fouda, or "power of
lightning/thunder") for quite some time, but have not adopted it on a
widespread scale before the arrival of e'Xenia of 2025. They also ahd an
understanding of atoms on some scale, or at least the electrons ("homitiiti"
or "little-little boys") and protons ("femiti-iti"
or "little-little girls") Their odd names for these particles comes
from its resemblance to one form of dance, where men dance in circles around a group
of women, who dance in a smaller area. With the knowledge from outside, there
is now awareness of neutrons ("imatuaiti-iti" or "little-little
grandmothers").

They had limited use of electricity for lighting
(although using huge unwieldy arc-lamps, unsuitable for domestic use) and
electric motors, all using direct current. Steam was only known as an implement
for cooking and music, not as a means of powering anything. Voltage is measured
in a'a, the word derived from the scream one would make if touching a
high voltage wire.

One of the more interesting pieces of Pavonian
technology was Haeli powder, which was used for cooking. A highly flammable
powder that was quite useful, it suffered from being extremely toxic when
exposed to the air in a poorly ventilated place. The distinct cloud released by
this reddish-pink powder is to be avoided, but when burned is harmless. The
other danger would be if the powder was agitated just before being burned, an
"airfuel bomb effect" could result. Because of this, the use of haeli
powder for cooking eventually fell out of use. Another flammable substance
discovered by the Pavonians is a mix of substances that produces a red flame
when burned, this is known as "Pavonian Napalm" or "Red
Napalm", despite not being true napalm. This wasn't originally used as a
weapon, but for displays during celebrations. When the Pirates branch of the
Golden Glocks set up shop on Pavonia in 2025, they quickly appropriated it for
weapon usage.

            The sarandra powers, or
"magic", of various traditions, such as that of the Enega,
could be considered a technology unto itself. The Enega, more of which will be
told later, seem to have had all manner of "magical technology", and
even at least one spaceship. They also had smaller one-crew craft called volay.
They also had ways of using "musical energy" in ways both beneficial
and harmful. From them, also, vast knowledge about the tza crystal, whose
structure is still not fully understood, is also found. Said crystals are even
able to contain the "essence, spirit and sarandra" of those
who have passed on. Legends even speak of dead people, mostly Enagi,
having turned into tza crystals shortly after death. Of special interest
is the ability to open up portals that connect to areas far away from each other,
via what are known as "bridges" that connect through an alternate
semi-dimension (often known as a "ge'ho")

The Zygans have a full and varied knowledge of
music. Some of their instruments are interesting, including the amorium,
which resembles a cross between a flute and a harmonica in appearance (and is
played more like the latter, but with fingers also placed over the exit holes
to modify the sound), and another instrument that can best be described as a
rigid accordion (it has bellows, but also stiff rods, so it doesn't bend like
an accordion) This instrument is called a boyoni in Pavonian, or a wuwuwu
in Yivian.

The Yivian Valley people, due to the nature of
their home, developed superior bridge-building techniques, as well as terraced
agriculture. They also have elaborate booby traps, mostly using ropes and nets,
both for catching animals, and, in times of war, to defend their villages.

The various nomadic groups, many of them "Dakoita" are not as advanced, technologically, as Zygans or Yivians, but have perfected various manners of weapons. They also have domesticated the greatest number of animals, some groups even use them as battle steeds.

With the "opening up" of Zyga,
technology from other worlds, especially Earth, has been imported. Everything
from vehicles, to electric networks, to communications (through a mix of
digital multi-use wires, "P-IDSN", and a wireless network as well)
has been introduced. In the capital city, Attewa-Kilmeara, the most famous of
the new technologies is the Passulator, or the new term coined for the
escalator, from the Pavonian word Passu ("step".) The Fifty Arches
shopping center has an escalator passing through arches as its logo.

Modern highways, railways and airports are also
being built.

War: In the history of Zyga, there have been numerous
wars. Wars against other lands, several of which were absorbed into Zyga. Wars
between the Trullo-Dwellers and the Yivians. And even wars with invaders from
other worlds.

Well known was the invasion of Zyga by a powerful demon,
believed to be a vampire/lich hybrid, known locally as Reifentom, or the
Ghost King, otherwise known as Abaddon. He had armies of various troll and
toad-like creatures, as well as the Sucubbi, who could compel men to offer no
resistance, or even attack each other. At one point it seemed that the Kingdom of Zyga would be exterminated. But then, the Enegae, or orders of
warrior-priestesses in the service of the Goddess Ene, appeared. They were
immune to the effects of the Succubi, and they, along with the Ingie
(husbands and boyfriends of Enagi, who fight by their side) severely
decimated them. The rest of Abaddon's forces fared no better. What was left,
left the planet. Recently revealed knowledge shows that one Enega built a
spaceship and intended to attack Abaddon themselves. Whereas other peoples
throughout various planets believe and accept that Abaddon is immortal and can
only be temporarily defeated, the various Enagi somehow knew of a way to
permanently rid the universe of him, as well as another powerful enemy, the Oho-Boka, a being that appears as an oversized pair of lips with a pair of glasses above it. However, the spaceship, which was parked on another planet for training
purposes, never took off again, and many Enagi were either killed, or just….left.
Said spaceship has since been recovered and is property of the new Enega.

There were also minor skirmishes ever since the Glissa-Deios consolidated its power, but all rebellions were brutally suppressed, and whole villages were sometimes leveled as punishment. In 2025, the Pirates division of the Golden Glocks invaded, but due to an SOS signal "accidentally"
being sent out, the Next-Wave (now known as the Enega Warriors) arrived, and
helped put a stop to them. PAVFOR was subsequently established to prevent Pavonia from being used as a training ground or a safe house for the Glocks, or any other established cartels or terrorist groups.

For fighting, those who know how, use all manner
of sarandra powers. Enagi were the greatest experts at this. Enagi also
carried special magic staves, although some of them used swords or spears
instead. Even some were known to fight wearing enchanted bracelets or
gauntlets, but otherwise unarmed, a technique called manivida
("empty hand", and literally the same meaning as karate) Another
interesting weapon, still used mostly by dakoita gangs, is the domarteau,
which resembles a double-ended sledgehammer. One has to be both strong and
dexterous to wield such a weapon. Crossbows, bows, and throwable shields
(essentially large chakrams) were also known.

Religion: Among the Zygans, there were a few religions that co-existed mostly harmoniously, and many people who found no problem in combining traditions, even if the religions were philosophically at odds with each other. Roughly around the 1950's to 1960's (Earth time), the Glissa-Deios began establishing power, set up a three-judge tribunal, and forced concessions from the House of Kameo, including immunity from prosecution for the upper echelons. The Glissa-Deios emphasizes one god, Deios, whom is the one that all thanks are directed to, and that everything that is good and pure comes from. In a parallel to the medieval Catholic church in Europe, on Earth, the Glissa-Deios also had an Inquisition, and demanded perfect and complete obedience. They also had their orders of monks and nuns. Another
aspect of theirs was the Ashrama, an institution originally intended for girls
wishing to become nuns, but then changed, for the purpose of imprisoning any
girl or woman who was a prostitute, who was raped, who had children out of wedlock, sometimes even for disagreeing with her parents or the Glissa-Deios, or for backing out of an arranged marriage (which was done among certain higher classes at one time), or for being too beautiful. At these places, spirit was sapped and broken down through brutal work regimens, entailing shifts averaging thirteen hours, and brutal beatings for even the tiniest of infractions, often given by "those who enjoy inflicting pain", in English, they would be called Sadists.
As they saw the Enega as a threat to themselves, but were reluctant to face the fallout from simply killing the "heroes", they took a different solution: Ene temples and Enega chapterhouses were repossessed, with access to the former being placed under a litany of onerous restrictions. Enagi staves were made illegal to use, but not to own. And propaganda went about, insisting that the Enega were just a legend,
and that the Glissa-Deios did more for the people. Every last Enagi was forced to retire. Additionally, the traditional "flower-dresses" (named for their hemlines) worn by Enagi, especially those of higher ranks, were portrayed as something only a zona (prostitute) would wear, thereby further tarnishing their image. In fact, zonai who'd normally be persecuted where allowed to operate "with everyone looking the other way" as long as they wore flower-dresses.
The Glissa-Deios used to permit polygamy, for men only, although when it fell out of favor is unknown. A group of fundamentalists from the past who came to the present to stop the first "new" Enagi warriors gave us insight into a few elements of the past. The Qela Qollective, as the English name is known, consists of four sisters who say they are "married" to their brother, Themiast. Both polygamy and
sibling marriage, if it was ever practiced, have long faded into obscurity, although there are no known records of any decree, ban, or bull specifically putting an end to said practices.
In 2025, the Glissa-Deios allied themselves with the Golden Glocks, and were rewarded quite generously. But this proved to be their downfall. Due to an accidental firing off of an SOS signal from a stolen spaceship (that was used by the Pirates to reach the planet in the first place, a group of heroes from Earth, the Next Wave, arrived and eventually stopped them. PAVFOR was assembled to finish what the Next Wave started, and the Glissa-Deios itself was outlawed, and the three judges (two of them, surprisingly, also being e'Xenia who had arrived sometime before,
and were allies of the third one), were all sent to Earth to serve their sentences. Glissa-Deios temples, monasteries, abbeys and ashramas were all repossessed, but an "offshoot" of the religion was later allowed to take form, with the understanding that they would never be allowed the power that the "Old" Glissa abused.
The other main religion, or religious group, was made up of each Enega (plural Enegae), who, as well as being heroes and warriors, were also spiritual guides, teachers, and priestesses, they were sometimes seen as an alternate means of settling disputes, and they had the authority to officiate at weddings and funerals (there were also "civilian-priestesses" in that group who were not considered Enagi) They were also considered founts of knowledge of the various different sarandra, or magical, arts. Limited worship of Ene was tolerated when the Glissa-Deios took over, and it served as a common given name for females even then (e.g. Katherine Ene Pikaku, first "New" Enagi) A new Enega is being established, but so far, there are only two Enagi, who are both sisters, and both have been trained by spirits of ancient Enagi long ago gone.
Additionally, there are many other deities, discouraged but never formally outlawed by the Glissa-Deios, and also recognized as being "valid" to worship in Eneism, many of these have folk tradition origins, and some of them are regional. Small shrines to Tarala, Mistress of the Plains, Fields and Crops, are often found in the "border areas" of farm fields, except for those directly owned by a religious
establishment. By convention, if a statue of her is included on a border between properties, she will be facing along the border, rather than onto the property of one of the two.
The Yivians have their own deities (daeva), as well as believing that the Zygan Deios is actually one of their own. They believe that their main deity, the Miyamm-Daeva, lives at the bottom of mists in a trench in a valley, and that he takes a tour of the world four times a year (considered the "high holidays" of their tradition).
Once again, religious tradition varies among the various outside groups. Certain dakoita groups have a belief that they were told by their creators they had to prove themselves, and to do so, they fight against everyone else.

Language: The main language of Zyga is often mistakenly called "Pavonian." It is now written with both a traditional alphabet, and the recently introduced Roman one. The dialects and accents seem to vary according between different regions, villages and cities. Most interesting about it is the large amounts of "false cognates"
with e'Xenia languages from Earth. Such as the Japanese and Portuguese sounding "Domo obrigado" (Thank you very much), and the words for brother and sister, fratello and sorella, being the same as in Italian.
The use of loan words is very interesting. There seems to be no single rule for what word is used, or its source. For example, a cow or bull is a bouvi, related to the English word bovine. Some words may be taken from nicknames or slang in other languages, or in the case of animals, from famous examples. Police becomes faifo (from "Five-O"), kangaroo becomes sqippi (from "Skippy"), and, depending on the region, bicycle has become both baik and velo (from the French word vélo). Helicopters, of which the PAVFOR brought plenty (mostly replaced by VTOLs on Earth), have become choppa. The word
Passulator, which is even used in English in Zyga, is the preferred term for an escalator, taking the word passu, "step." Then there's even a few "words through association." The type of trousers known as "jeans" in most languages have become stevedores in Pavonian. This is due to this being the preferred clothing of the general workers at the Attewa-Kilmeara Starport, who were named "stevedores" because they mostly load and unload spaceships (similar to the original meaning of the
stevedores who loaded and unloaded ocean-going ships)
The Yivians have their own language, but most of them have at least a basic understanding of Pavonian. A handful of their words have tonal properties, meaning that HOW it is said is as important as WHAT is said. This is not universal, and seems to suggest that the language itself is in a state of flux.
Very little is known of Dakoita languages, but once again, Pavonian is a common language among them, some groups use it exclusively.

Relationship with Others:
The Pavonians have been isolated from e'Xenia for eons, and in many cases, isolated from each other. How the rest of Pavonia, outside of Zyga and a few outposts, will react is at this point unknown. Most Pavonians welcome the outsiders, noting that while the Pirates where e'Xenia, so where the Next Wave, and thanks to them, as well as PAVFOR, the Glissa-Deios' iron grip on Zyga is a thing of the past. Had it not been for the Next-Wave, the new Enega would not exist. Among a minority of ardent Deios followers, however, there is a wish that the e'Xenia never came.
There is also animosity towards Pavonians on Earth, because of large members of them, all from Dakoita groups, who were absorbed into the Golden Glocks, and in some cases then into the Commonwealth  of Crooks. There is also resentment about a requirement to "Pavonize" fluorescent tubes, while beneficial to all, is resented by
some people out of principal.
The relationship with PAVFOR is complicated, while there is respect, and PAVFOR only remains at the request of Queen Aroostook, there is some resentment by some. PAVFOR and its contractors are under special instructions that all development would respect local sensitivities. Also, with the exception of Glissa-Deios property, expropriation of homes and workplaces for PAVFOR use was to be kept at an
absolute minimum. New property, both by PAVFOR and by various private people
and contractors, tended to be built either on condemned Glissa-Deios lands, or
in unbuilt areas. Consequently, the suburbs of major cities (especially
Attewa-Kilmeara) look as if from another planet, mostly resembling suburban and
small town places on Earth, and to a lesser extent, Ai'a'ivea and
YaYa-Niaferia.
Bars, restaurants and stores owned by e'Xenia are quite popular with the local population, and many of the e'Xenia, in turn, like to visit Pavonian establishments. The currency used is the puega (from an old Pavonian word meaning "piece of money", which is what it is). The Puega is now divided into 100 cents. One of the most popular spots where locals and expats alike gather is Roy's Diner on the Fringes (the "Fringes" meaning a relatively uninhabited area near the border), known for its Texas-themed décor, and the first name that most Pavonians think
of if they hear "hamburger."
What items that the e'Xenia have introduced have been met in different ways. The Passulator (Escalator) is very popular, although to allay fears of those unfamiliar, most places that have them hire "Passulator Ladies" to demonstrate how to use the devices, and help people on and off. Vehicle ownership is steadily rising, and home electrification and postal service were very quickly embraced. Likewise for mass transportation.
With clothing, materials from outside have been embraced, but not so much styles. For example, jeans, or stevedores, are only worn by girls among the Pavonians, worn with a saia or a shorter tunic. Also, it is now possible to buy a swimdress (complete with pesae) made of lycra or other "swimsuit" materials, but Earth-style swimsuits and swim trunks are virtually ignored by Pavonians, except as props used by some hakage-suu (clowns).
The Yivians are much more isolated and insular. However, they've taken to using some innovations from the Odali (their term for e'Xenia), especially power tools. Also, a few humans have become very endeared to them. The current Miyamm is actually a human, believed to be a wanted criminal on Earth, but due to his position, he is all but "untouchable."
From the Pavonians, Kameo-Silver, Feathercotton (a material from the feathery "Seuss Tree", so-called because of its resemblance to the odd trees seen in those children's books), Red Napalm, Moogs (an animal resembling a bulldog, but with four heads and eight limbs), and elaborate crystal-work are the most obvious contributions to others. Traditional Pavonian medicine is being studied, in hopes that it may have something to offer. Additionally, the various sarandra arts are also being studied, with special interest in the "Bridge," which can be a valuable alternative to teleportation and spaceflight.
There are reports of e'Xenia, mostly humans, falling in love with Pavonians, and vice versa, usually the outsider involved is a son or daughter of a soldier, diplomat, or skilled professional (although it sometimes is one of those people themselves, if single). Additionally, the first "New" Enagi, Katherine, is engaged to Bobby Yicola Kokare-Ai'a'ive, the half Ya'a-Naomi son of the Chosen Ai'a'ive.
The days of Pavonian isolation are over.

First the Ai'a'ive, now it is the Pavonians' turn to have a guide to them written up. A little harder, because the Pavonians aren't as monolithic, culturally, as the Ai'a'ive. However, we only know about part of their planet, so that makes things a bit easier.

Note that Katherine and Genifa are inspired by actual people, Many thanks to them, they own themselves, I only came up with the Pavonian race because of them (long story).

And as for what Pavonians look like? An example of the female, , and an example of the male, (credit for those pictures goes to :iconlady-of-link:)
